This is where G C really came through! They managed to get all the permits done before the end of November, then they found an installation team to come on December 22nd! What a nice Christmas present! On December 20th, a truck showed up with my solar panels followed by the installation team an hour later. This is the only part of the experience that was not ideal. I learned later that an email was sent the prior evening letting me know that the equipment and installers would be available 2 days earlier, meaning the installation would be done the next day. I work from home and happened to have a full calendar that day, so things got a little chaotic as I did not check my email that night. BUT..., given the effort they made to get this done a few days before Christmas, I probably shouldn't even be mentioning this. The installation was completed after a couple days. The inspection was done the following week and then I received the approval to operate from SDGE on 12/30. (This is exceptionally quick, but I guess there are not a lot of solar installations getting done between Christmas and New Year's Eve.) Anyway, we started 2023 with solar in place and are very happy! It's apparent already that the proposals are accurate. We did not upgrade our main panel but were able to get an array that will provide about 95-98% of our electricity. The cost was so low that with the 30% tax credit, we expect this array to pay for itself in less than 4 years (and that assumes the cost of electricity remains where it is now.) After that, those panels will be up there "printing money" for another 15-25 years!

GC is a local installer in San Diego County and I wanted to support local business. They are very knowledgeable of local permitting requirements and working with SDGE. They handled all aspects of permitting resulting in a very smooth and seamless process from project start to project end. 4. Contract was very straightforward and clear spelling our responsibilities of GC as installer, the equipment vendors who provide the equipment warranties, and the customer. All questions I had regarding the contract were answered timely and to my satisfaction. 5. Since GC is an authorized premiere installer of Panasonic solar panels and Enphase micro inverters, Panasonic provides a 25 year All Guard warranty that covers installation, equipment (panels, inverters, racking system, etc). The warranty from Panasonic was an important factor as remains in effect even if the installer were to go out of business. Panasonic is one of the largest and longest premiere panel manufacturers/suppliers in the business along with all of their other company offerings in the electronics industry for decades. 6. GC’s installers and commissioning personnel are top notch and communicative answering my questions during install. My system installation was completed in late January (2 weeks earlier than anticipated) and inspection and commissioning in early February. System passed City inspection on first review and I was notified by SDGE a day later that they have received the City inspection report. SDGE plans to inspect my meter within 2 weeks and then issue the permission to operate (PTO). I am eagerly looking forward to lower electrical bills in the months to come. My only criticism which I have shared with GC is their use of an app called ProofHub for communication. The app is not very intuitive, but once you get used to it, you can find all communication, design information, project status, and scheduled dates for various project phases. Be sure that you have notifications set properly on your smart device settings. I initially missed a few key notices from GC as the ProofHub notifications were not properly set I my phone. This is not a fault of GC, but I did suggest to include this item in GC’s instructions for using ProofHub. Hopefully, this will help future customers. If you are doing your due diligence in reviewing solar system installers, I certainly recommend considering GC Electric Solar. Again, kudos to the GC Team. If I consider battery install in the future, GC will be top of my list.
